Which wars in the last 60 years were fought for our freedoms? Which wars did they fight in, where another country posed a threat to ours? Which wars were fought to protect us and from who?

The US has been at war, or bombing other countries every single year since the year 1776, with the mere exception of 16 years, which were non-consecutive. Step back and look at the US for what it is.

Your troops are used to make a handful of people extremely wealthy.

Can’t argue with your basic point. But I will point out that Afghanistan was attacked because it harbored someone linked to the 9/11 assault on America. Another Republican president, who may or may not have won his election, chose to largely ignore that war in order to go after nonexistent weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Lots of lying then, too.

9-11 was brought about by Mossad, same filth that assassinated Kennedy. Your country considers them allies!

CIA- 1947

Zionist Israel- 1948

Mossad- 1949.

It is sad to see how cavalier recent administrations have cast our troops into feckless wars for unwarranted political reasons. There have been pivotal times when the only choice was combat and soldiers have done their duty. They answer the call, good or bad. We salute you today for your patriotism and love of our Country.

My brother died in Vietnam. His story complicates both those who think America’s soldiers are heroic simply by signing up and those who hate everything about the military.

Like many young men, my brother in need of discipline and purpose. At that point in history we were lied to about the legitimacy of the war. We were told that we would stop the communists at our doorstep if we put them down in Vietnam. What a joke now, right. Veterans routinely go to that country on vacation. In the last letter I got from him (we were almost twins) he said, “I love the Air Force. I am signed up for a full career. I love defending my country and our unique Constitution, but this war is wrong. When I come home, I think I am going to do something else. Politicians are making decisions for me, those of us who were drafted and those who volunteered. But I have become a man doing this and hopefully as a father, a good model. It’s up to all of us to make this country live up to its promises. The military can’t do that for us.”

What is true, what is honorable, what is noble must begjn with self-examination. Are we living up to these values ourselves?

Mary,

For a whole variety of reasons related to this post, you should support DC Statehood from the moment you get to the Senate, if not sooner. DC has had citizens in every American war, since the Revolution, and they come home lacking the advantages of citizenship they have fought for everywhere else. DC citizens have no voting representation in Congress (a non-voting Rep., no Senators) and are by virtue of specific language in the Constitution ruled by Congress. The current Congress and President have spent 2 years specifically, financially and otherwise, tormenting the residents of the nation's capital, including all of our living veterans. This is outrageous and MUST stop.

As an Alaskan, one of the last populations admitted to the US, you and your fellow citizens should be particularly sensitive to the plight of DC residents because you have only recently come out of it.

Please say you now and forever support DC Statehood and will fight for it in the Senate and before you get here.

Thank you.
